We are Seamus and Maura Gettings and we live in the Republic of Ireland. We have been involved with dogs for 25 years and have shown locally at agricultural   shows. We bred Japanese Spitz and Pomeranians. We also bred Weimaraners, and it was with this breed that we decided to begin showing at Irish Kennel Club Shows. Unfortunately we lost our 2 Weimy's in quick succession, and we decided to have a break from this breed.
We made a decision to purchase a Dobermann and were lucky enough to get our 1st Dobermann, CH. Supeta's Black Russian at Beechillawn, Rudi, from Sue Mycroft, of the Supeta Affix. Rudi is son of the brilliant GB.CH/CH. Talacre Vysans Boy at Supeta, Boris, who sadly passed away in 2008, and Rudi is in many ways like his wonderful Sire. We are forever grateful to Sue for entrusting this fine boy to us. We purchased 2 females from Sue, Sonakint Worst Witch With Supeta of Beechillawn, Ria, and Supeta's Tayler's Angel of Beechillawn, Ali, and a female from Clive and Nancy Evans of the Amazon Affix, Amazon Flames of Love For Beechillawn, and so our Dobermann family was complete.
In 2007 we decided to expand our show team and obtain a breed to compliment our Dobermanns and settled on a German Wirehaired Pointer, having had some experience of them in the past. In December 2007 we purchased a G.W.P. puppy from Karl O' Connor, of the Karlejay Affix, Karlejay The Gump Mile To Beechillawn and so the wonderful Garth entered our lives. He has since been joined by a female G.W.P. Kimmax Krystal Klear of Beechillawn, Krys, who we purchased from Peter and Maxine McCullagh of the Kimmax Affix.
Being new-comers to the show-ring, it took us a couple of years to get our 1st Green Star, although Rudi and the girls enjoyed success at Puppy, Junior and Open Show level. When the Green Stars started coming , they came thick and fast, and our boy gained his title at Sligo and District in July 2008. This show is held in Newtownforbes, Co. Longford, less than a mile from our home. Ironic really, when you think we spent 3 years travelling the length and breath of Ireland every weekend to get those elusive Green Stars!
Rudi has since got 2 more Green Stars, 1 with B.O.B. and will be shown at a limited number of shows in 2009. He is our 1st Champion and that day in Newtownforbes was a day to remember forever and we are not ashamed to say we shed more than a few tears.
